Dekton

When you are planning a home remodel, you are probably looking for a unique product for countertops, flooring and walls. You may want to consider an innovative new product, Dekton by Consentino. It is ultra-compact, versatile and durable. Many homeowners are finding it to be a unique, exciting product that gives their room an entirely new look.

What is Dekton?

Dekton is created using a process as sintering which combines refined glass, porcelain and pure quartz together to create a compact surface. The look is very similar to granite, but is much lighter and more durable. Sintering does not require temperatures high enough for the products to melt, allowing the materials to be shaped and formed. The process is similar to what happens to rocks under the Earth’s surface over thousands of years.

What are the Benefits of Dekton

Dekton is resistant to UV light, making it perfect for outdoor use since it will not fade over time. Although granite and quartz are scratch resistant, Dekton has even more scratch resistance. It is five times as strong as granite so it is suitable for use in commercial areas. The surface is non-porous so it resists stains. In addition, because it does not contain resins like engineered stone, chemicals do not damage the surface. It does not need sealing to protect the surface. Manufacturing allows for a more consistent surface color as well.

Advantages of Dekton Include:

  • High UV Resistance
  • Highly Scratch-resistant
  • Resistant to stains
  • High Resistance to fire and heat
  • Resistant to abrasion
  • Resistant to ice & thawing
  • High mechanical Resistance
  • Non-porous
  • Color Stability
  • Dimensional Stability
  • Resistant to hydrolysis
  • Noncombustible material

Dekton Siding Systems

Dekton is available in internal wall cladding systems as well as surfaces that are suitable for outdoor walls. Some of the interior wall cladding systems available include:

  • Simple paneling system – uses adhesive cement plaster directly on the interior support walls
  • Mixed paneling system – uses a combination of cement adhesives using mechanical reinforcing elements embedded in the joints between Dekton and then mechanically attached
  • Dry paneling system – attaches to walls with dry veneer using a metal substructure attached to an enclosure and Dekton then affixed to the enclosure

Dekton Countertops

Dekton is an excellent choice for counters in any room, but especially the kitchen. The product is thermal shock proof so high and low temperatures will not damage the surface. It is one of the most heat resistant countertop surfaces available today. Cutting boards are recommended, but more to protect your knives than the counter. Because the surface is non-porous, it resists bacteria making it safer for you and your family.

Dekton Flooring

Just like Dekton counters and wall cladding, it is also an excellent option for flooring. Dekton flooring is resistant to scratches so dirt carried from outside are less likely to damage your floors. Because some of the designs are very similar to marble, they can create a luxurious, rich look for any floor, whether it is an entrance, a bathroom or a sitting area. It resists cracking, so dropping heavy items should not damage the floor.

Dekton wall cladding can give your home a luxurious, rich feel. Some designs so closely resemble marble, it will be almost impossible to tell the difference.
