Advantages of Cambria Quartz Countertops

Before choosing the countertops, you may want to ask, “what is Cambria quartz?” Quartz countertops are created from over 90 percent ground quartz, one of the hardest stones on Earth, combined with 10 percent resin, pigment and other compounds. This creates one of the hardest, most durable countertops available. It resists cracking, scratching and chipping better than marble or granite. Because it is mixed with pigment, there are more colors available than in other types of natural stone and it does not require as much maintenance.

How Cambria Compares with Other Countertop Surfaces

Because Cambria countertops are made of 93 percent quartz, it is stronger than granite. This is because granite contains a combination of materials that are more fragile than natural quartz. Quartz countertops are more flexible than granite, making them easier to install. Granite and marble counters require sealing on a regular basis, but quartz counters do not. Seams are more visible in lighter quartz counters than they are in granite or marble.

Cambria Countertop Care and Maintenance

Clean Cambria quartz with mild soap and water, never with harsh or abrasive cleansers. Although quartz is resistant to stains, acidic materials like red wine, coffee or tomato sauce can damage the counters. Spills should be wiped up as quickly as possible. Although a hot pan placed on the surface of the counter will not cause damage, grit on the bottom of the pan can cause scratches so always use trivets or hot pads. Use a cutting board more to protect your knives than the countertop.
